Lyford Cay

The Lyford Cay Subdivision on the western end of New Providence. Mr. E.P. Taylor, of Canada, developed the area about 50 years ago, and it has become one of the most exclusive residential neighbourhoods in the Bahamas. Improved properties generally range in value from approximately $1,000,000 to over $20,000,000. Lyford Cay is a very secure neighbourhood with a security entrance gate monitoring all incoming and outgoing traffic. There is also a 24-hour security patrol of the entire neighbourhood. The Lyford Cay Club is a very exclusive, members only club with facilities that include: an eighteen hole golf course, tennis courts, full service marina, pool, beach, and restaurants. Lyford Cay School is within the security area and teaches from reception to grade twelve. Immediately outside the gate are Templeton, Deltec, Royal Bank of Canada, Guarantee Bank and Trust, Klonaris & Co., some small, new office buildings, a small shopping centre with a supermarket, and a service station.
Lyford Cay has a Property Owners Association that oversees the maintenance of the neighbourhood.

Privately owned properties in the area are also generally very well maintained. Values have been in an upward trend throughout the life of the neighbourhood, with tremendous increases through the mid to late 1990’s. The overall stability of this neighbourhood due to its occupants and the extensive proposed development in the South Ocean area indicates that properties should continue to show steady increases in value in the future.
